Al Nassr carried into Asian Champions League group stage in stunning comeback by player they might have to discard — not Cristiano

Al Nassr have beaten Shabab Al Ahli and made it into the Asian Champions League group stage.

Although the game ended 4-2, Al Nassr were losing 2-1 until minute 88 when Sultan Al-Ghannam equalised.

In the injury time, Talisca gave his team the lead and two minutes later Marcelo Brozovic set the score in stone. Cristiano Ronaldo played the full game but didn't score.

The game was also marred by a host of controversial calls and there was no VAR to help. For example, Al Nassr were not awarded a penalty for this blatant handball by the opponent.

The group stage draw will take place on 24 August. As usual, this year's edition will see teams from all across Asia compete for the ultimate continental trophy (its equivalent in Europe is the UEFA Champions).

For this tournament, Al Nassr will actually have to ditch one or two of their star footballers if Aymeric Laporte joins. That's because only five footballers born outside Asia can compete in the AFC Champions League.

According to rumours, the one to sacrifice could be Talisca, the scorer of the winning goal against Shabab Al Ahli and one of their best players in general. But alas, he's not a Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane or even Alex Telles. Let's see, however, if this information is confirmed.
