'I blame him': Micah Richards reveals how Man City Treble winner cost him £1million

Micah Richards shared a funny story about his time with England and Manchester City. It involves his teammate, Scott Carson, who was part of the treble-winning Manchester City team.

The story goes back to the Euro 2008 qualifier against Croatia, a game that's often remembered as the end of England's 'golden generation.'

In that match, Carson had a bit of a mishap, letting a not-so-powerful shot by Nico Kranjcar slip into the net, putting Croatia 2-0 ahead. Although England managed to fight back, they couldn't secure a win, and Croatia ultimately won the game.

Richards joked on The Rest Is Football: "The team we had that day... we didn't have Rio Ferdinand or John Terry. It was a mixed-bag team. David Beckham was on the bench as well. It was all over the place. But we thought we could get a draw. That was terrible! I think my player rating after that game, at best, was a two."

"But I blame Scott Carson. I blame him. I'm sorry. He's at Man City now, taking all the accolades, winning the treble, medal after medal."

"And he cost me a million quid. He cost me a million pounds! Sterling! Not euros, not pesos, not francs! That was my bonus - get to the Euros, have so many appearances for England, and you get more money on your contract at Man City."
