According to The xG Philosophy on Twitter, Everton have generated 16.43xG from eight games as compared to Man City's 15.66.
The stark contrast, however, is the number of actual goals both teams have scored: Man City's 17 against Everton's only 9.
In practice, it means that Sean Dyche's Everton are quite good at generating chances but are poor at converting them. Imagine if Dyche had players that Pep has at his disposal!
This might surprise some but for all the criticism, Everton are far from one of the worst teams in the league this season. With better finishing, they may target a comfortable top-10 finish.
As for Man City, Kevin de Bruyne can't come back from his injury soon enough as Erling Haaland, for all his flair for goal, seems to be struggling with finding opportunities at the moment.
