Bet365 pockets big on Fury vs Usyk fight, then suffers 'shockingly bad' end to Premier League season

A punter's gain is always a bookie's loss and vice versa. For bet365, it turned into a disaster when their customers who bet on Manchester City to win the 2023/24 Premier League season, received their winnings.

Here's what happened after the Citizens lifted the Premier League cup on the final day of the tournament, according to bet365's PR man, Steve Freeth: "A shockingly bad end to the 2023/24 Premier League season as punters signed off in style with a full house of favourites winning.

"The 10-fold paid 103/1 at kick off, of which 9 teams we paid out early thanks to our 2 Goals Ahead Payout.

“On top of that, we had the Acca Boost of 35% for all correct 10-folds, leaving us with our biggest payout of the campaign. We were given a glimmer of hope when VAR checked Kai Havertz’s late winner, but unfortunately for us, and to the delight of our customers, the German’s 89th minute goal stood to seal a miserable final day."

Just the day before, the situation was absolutely different in the epic heavyweight title fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk. The absolute majority of punters placed their bets on the Brit who eventually lost by split decision.

"The football may have been abysmal, but we had a brilliant result in Riyadh with Tyson Fury being edged out on points by Oleksandr Usyk, but that profit was swallowed up come 6pm on Sunday," Steve Freeth said.

"Our minds are already on next season as we tentatively go out with the Premier League outright for 2024/25. Manchester City at 10/11 are a shade of odds-on to win a fifth consecutive title with Arsenal at 9/4 and Liverpool 8/1. There’s the small matter of the Euros first!"
