Pep on LFC: 'They drank a lot of beers this week but they arrived with no beers in their blood'

Following his side's 4-0 win against Liverpool, Pep Guardiola insists City have beaten a very focused opponent. According to the Spaniard, Liverpool players were so concentrated on the game, they even forgot to say thank you to Man City who formed a guard of honour for the new PL champs.

"We beat the champions, an extraordinary team. We are brave to play, they are brave to play," Pep told Sky Sports.

"We tried to play football, take risks. It's the best team I have ever faced in my life at high pressing. We had the courage to play in the small spaces.

"I saw the guard of honour, how they work inside, how focused they were. They didn't even say thank you because they were focused. They drank a lot of beers this week but they arrived here with no beers in their blood which is why I give us a lot of credit."

Although the game cannot influence the outcome of the season, it was a serious reality check for the Reds. Our next fixture is on Sunday: Liverpool will host Aston Villa at Anfield. With 6 games left to play, the Reds need to gain a minimum of 15 points to break City's record of 100 points in a Premier League season.
