ESPN expert Nicol criticises Varane for his injury history amidst links with United

"I do [see Varane leaving Real Madrid]. I don't think he's leaving for Manchester United. And the reason I don't think that is, because listen, Varane may be 25, 26, but he's had so many injuries.

"So this guy clearly has a physical problem with his body. So that being said, you don't come to the Premier League. If he can't play a full season, which he hasn't done at Real Madrid since he's been there, you're not doing that in the Premier League," said Steve Nicol.

Varane's injury history, as per Transfermarkt:

"So Manchester United particularly certainly need a world-class defender, which he is. But they need somebody who’s going to play week in, week out and be the man at the back. That’s not your guy, Varane is not your guy," concluded the ESPN expert.

Zinedine Zidane addresses the press ahead of Wednesday evening's La Liga fixture against Valencia. However, he was mostly asked about the huge rumour which emerged on Monday. According to the Spanish top-tier source, Jose Luis Sanchez, Raphael Varane has made it clear for the Real Madrid board and teammates that he is determined to leave.

The boss, however, denied these claims, as quoted by MARCA: "I don't want a Madrid without Varane. He's a young player, he's been here for eight years, he's doing fine. There are many things that come out [in the press]. He didn't say anything to me. He's at the best club in the world and he knows it, he's won a lot of things."
