Lopetegui confirms Marcelo has a muscle tear: Madrid hit with an injury crisis
  • The Brazilian left the pitch after 75 minutes with no subs left
  • The boss says it seems to be a muscle tear
  • Los Blancos have now lost Carvajal and Isco to various injuries
  • Odriozola, meanwhile, missed the Sevilla match because of a painful knock

Marcelo is another 'victim' of Real Madrid's hectic schedule. The Brazilian was forced off in the middle of the second half of the Sevilla match as he couldn't continue because of an unfortunate calf injury. He left Madrid pushing to turn the 3-0 loss around with only ten men and will now almost certainly miss the crucial derby against Atletico Madrid this Saturday.

After the match, the boss Julen Lopetegui has addressed this issue in the post-match presser. He is quoted as saying: 'Marcelo seems to have a [muscle tear] but we'll have to wait for tests tomorrow.'

Los Blancos have currently more players on their injury list: Dani Carvajal is still nursing an unknown muscle injury he sustained a week ago against Roma while Isco had a surgery on because of acute appendicitis and will now be unvailable for a month. Finally, Alvaro Odriozola received a painful knock during Monday's training session and had to miss Sevilla match as well.

Carvajal will be much needed against Atletico as losing TWO defenders will be a huge blow for Real Madrid, especially against such a lethal attack as the Rojiblancos possess. With only Marcelo out, Nacho could cover up for the Brazilian.
