The Brazilian is nicknamed 'the new Kaka' for his offensive skills. As claimed by Diario AS, Los Blancos have been scouting the 21-year-old since early 2019.
The only deal breaker could be the player's asking price. The source adds that Real Madrid are reluctant to pay the youngster's €50m release clause. However, his price might drop amid the economic effect the coronavirus pandemic could cause to the European clubs.
It's considered, meanwhile, that Gomes's friendship with Rodrygo will be a big boost for the potential deal.
Igor Gomes has made 31 appearances for Sao Paulo's first-team since 2018. In January, the Brazilian made his debut for the national U23 side.
