Let's follow Savage in his argument: he offers us to judge Bale by the number of goals he scored, by the decisive impact he had in the most important games and, finally, by the number of trophies he won.
Goals
The Welshman has recently surpassed 'El Fenomeno' by the number of the goals scored for Real Madrid (105 against 104). Moreover, he scored twice as much as the likes of Zinedine Zidane (49) and Figo (56) during their time at the Bernabeu.
Impact in big games
Bale has made himself a name by scoring in finals.
- His iconic strike in 2014 Copa del Rey final is probably one of the favourites for every Madridista.
- Bale also scored in the 110th minute of the extra time to put Real Madrid 2–1 up against Atletico Madrid in the 2014 UEFA Champions League Final, as Los Blancos won La Decima.
- The Welshman was Man of Match in the final CL against Liverpool two years ago, scoring a brace.
Hardly any player can say the same about himself. Even Zinedine Zidane has only one goal in the Champions League final – against Leverkusen.
Who did it better – Bale or Zidane?
Trophies
If we are talking about trophies won with Los Blancos, Bale (13) is again superior to Zidane (5) and Figo (9).
So. there is definitely some truth to Robbie Savage's words that the Welshman deserves more respect.
What do you think? Does Bale deserve to be called a Real Madrid legend?
