Speaking to Rio Ferdinand for The Locker Room, James Rodriguez has revealed getting an alluring offer from 'a great team' while at Real Madrid.
"Last summer I got a really good offer from a club. I don't want to say the name, but I could go there, because I knew that I wouldn't play much here [at Real Madrid]. I knew it, so, I got this offer with this club, and I haven't been allowed to leave due to several issues.
"So, basically I'm here this year because of the circumstances, not because I wanted to be, because I knew that I wouldn't be able to play much.
"But here I'm learning every day. Hopefully, in the future, I'll be able to play more. I know that I have talent, and I believe in my daily work, so I believe in that."
So, what side could've signed James Rodriguez last summer? We believe it's Napoli. There had been too many reports about Carlo Ancelotti being obsessed with the idea of signing the Colombian, and James could've been well interested in such a reunion.
Anyway, it is what it is and James Rodriguez's struggles continue at Real Madrid. The 28-year-old has made just one appearance in the Whites' last four games as he's still expected to be offloaded in the summer.
