Speaking about his future at Sevilla, Jules Kounde said: “I am a Sevilla player, I'm fine here.
“There is a phrase that we repeat a lot and sometimes it seems that it is said without thinking, but the reality is that in the world of football we never know what will happen. I'm staying at Sevilla.”
Kounde has reportedly attracted attention from Real Madrid, who have identified him as a ‘long-term replacement’ for Sergio Ramos. The 21-year-old put in some brilliant performances at his club last season, winning the Europa League with them as well.
But with Madrid not making any new signings this summer anyhow, Kounde’s insistence at wanting to stay at Sevilla probably won’t really bother them. If the young centre-back can continue his good work this time around, Madrid can go after him next season – with Florentino Perez already planning to spend big in the summer of 2021.
