'Not many people know that I am actually called Casimiro': Brazilian explains changing his name

Speaking to Diario Sport, Casemiro opened up about a little-known fact about himself: "Not many people know that in reality, my name is Casimiro, because my mother's surname is with an I, not an E: Casimiro.

"When I played in Brazil, there was a game in Sao Paulo when people started to call me Casemiro. I played really well that day and I decided that people should keep calling me Casemiro, with the E. And here we are today."

Born Carlos Henrique Casimiro, the Brazilian started his career at Sao Paulo in 2002 before signing for Real Madrid in 2013.

Following a successful loan spell at the Portuguese side Porto, Casemiro returned to Madrid in 2015, quickly establishing himself as a key player at the Bernabeu.
