When Real Madrid come knocking, it's a different knock. We are sure potential new faces won't need much persuading to join but there's one thing Los Blancos can do to make their offer even sweeter.
And that is the simple act of providing a juicy squad number. There aren't many up for grabs now - so we'll assume some departures will take place first.
Number 4
Sergio Ramos is currently occupying it and we won't be surprised to see the club captain leave in several weeks. It's a traditional number for a holding midfielder, so offering it to Fede Valverde could be a good idea.
Number 5
There's less certainly that Raphael Varane will go but it's still pretty likely. In which case we assume that someone like Pau Torres or Jules Kounde will be able to take up the number 5 shirt - or we can let David Alaba have it.
Number 11
It's a number Marco Asensio wears but we do need to provide Kylian Mbappe with a decent set of digits if he joins, right? 11 is traditionally reserved for left wingers, so Asensio will have to budge.
Number 12
Marcelo's number - we are not sure the Brazilian has a future in the team. 12 is a number associated with fans, so picking a fan favourite for it or a marquee signing (Mbappe) would make total sense.
