Real Madrid planning to sign Goretzka on free in 2022 (reliability: 4 stars)

According to German newspaper Bild (via Marca), Real Madrid are very keen on Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka.

But they are not thinking about buying him this summer: instead, they want to bring him to the Bernabeu in 2022, when his contract with Die Roten expires.

Madrid have already established contact with the 26-year-old, telling him that they would welcome him with open arms if he runs down his contract with the German champions.

The Whites used a similar strategy with David Alaba, offering him more money than what Bayern were prepared to pay.

However, Manchester United are attentive to Goretzka's contract situation and could try to lure him to Old Trafford.
