"Kylian Mbappe's father wanted him to stay and the lawyer and I wanted him to leave. But we are not those who decide," the Frenchman's mother, Fayza Lamari, has told Le Parisien regarding his failed summer move to Real Madrid.
"With his father, we get along very well and we are his advisers, not the decision-makers. When Kylian wanted to go to Real Madrid, his dad didn't want to. I told him to stay until 2024 in Paris, but he had his arguments.
"We didn't want to leave free so we wanted to advance his departure by a year so that the club could receive a compensation. We can't be blamed afterwards for leaving for free."
