"Manchester? Horrible. We were in Madrid, for me it's the best club in the world. Everything was perfect before Manchester United's offer came," Angel di Maria's wife, Jorgelina Cardoso, once told the media.
"I told him no, but he said we would be more secure financially. We fought about it. I didn't want to go to Manchester. I was friends with Giannina Maradona, who was married to Aguero. We went to their house and we were like 'see you later guys'.
"When we left, I told him to choose any country, except for England. One year later, we were there.
"It was a lot of money, and afterwards those in Spain were calling us 'peseteros' [greedy for money]. And they were right. If you work for a company and the other company offers you a double salary, you will take the offer," she concluded.
It seems like Jorgelina really regrets her husband's decision to leave Real Madrid for Man United. As for Angel himself, he once claimed that he had never wanted to leave Real Madrid actually, although his relationship with Florentino Perez 'wasn't the best'.
Di Maria scored 36 goals and provided 85 assists in 190 appearances for the Whites. The 34-year-old signed for Juventus this summer.
