The Spaniard looked like the only Real Madrid attacker who actually even cared about winning the game. Won a smart penalty for his side by forcing a foul and then set up Militao’s strike with a great cross. Created quite a few promising chances and menacing with work down the middle.

The Brazilian was probably the most impactful defender, winning 4/4 ground duels and making 5 clearances. Also scored a great header before half-time to give his side the lead, which would evaporate soon. Dealt well against Vallecano’s constant attacks and did well to neutralize multiple attacking moves.

The Frenchman struggled to cope up with Vallecano’s thunderous attacking moves and couldn’t really protect his backline or control the tempo of the game. He was left stranded for the opener and caught out of position throughout the game.

Real Madrid’s captain for the day might have scored the equalizer with a well-taken penalty, but was pretty poor apart from that. Modric gave away possession a lot of times all through the game and was bullied by Vallecano’s pressing. Failed to create much or inspire his side to get on top of the game.

Vinicius was rattled by the Vallecano players from the early minutes and that might’ve affected his performance. The Brazilian forward was fortunate not to get sent off after some poor challenges and arguing with the referee in the first half. Failed to get involved in anything real special and missed some chances he got.

The Brazilian horribly failed in the centre-forward role and had little influence over the attacks. He looked uncomfortable down the middle and made very little impact. Got a few chances to score, but his horrible finishing let him down on the day. Missed an absolute sitter in a tap-in chance late on – that could’ve won his side a point.

All the goals for Vallecano came from Carvajal’s side, which is an indicement of how vulnerable he really was. Couldn’t do much to stop the move on his wing for the opener and unable to close down Garcia before his strike. 

Then gave away a penalty with a poor hand ball in the second half and did one worse by getting into the penalty area too quickly during Courtois’ saved effort, forcing the referee to re-take it and for Vallecano to score the winner.
