Madrid fans were treated to a surprise on Thursday morning, when a huge blue and red banner with the 'Raul is Culer' caption was unveiled on one of the buildings in the Spanish capital.
Apparently, Barcelona opened their new store meters away from the Madrid one. And the caption clearly implicates our legend, Raul Gonzalez. It was previously claimed that Raul has a soft spot for Barca, although he's never confirmed this himself.
However, according to Barca, the Raul in question is a certain Raúl Martin, a Blaugrana fan who lives in Madrid and has actually been used in the advertising campaign to promote the store’s opening.
Sounds rather unconvincing, given the long history of rivalry between the the two clubs.
Besides, this isn’t the first time they try to mock us this way. Joan Laporta placed a large banner with his face on it on the same street as the Santiago Bernabeu, with a caption that read ‘Looking forward to seeing you again,’ during his re-election campaign back in 2020.
