OFFICIAL: Marcelo returns to boyhood club after Olympiacos contract termination

Only a week after having his contract terminated by 

 has found a new tean. The left-back has signed a contract with his childhood club 

It was from Fluminese that Marcelo joined 

 in 2007, having grown at their academy. He made 30 appearances for the Rio de Janeiro side before his move to Europe.

'I see myself coming back': Marcelo open to Real Madrid return

In an interview with ESPN, as per Sport,

"If I tell the truth, I feel like I’ve not left Real Madrid. I see myself coming back. I would very much like to try to help children who need it just like when I arrived at 18 years old.”

Olympiacos terminate Marcelo contract as left-back plays just 10 matches in 6 months

Half a year later, the Greek club terminates the left-back's contract by mutual consent. The reason behind the decision is not stated but it might have to do with Marcelo's inability to settle in at the new club. 

The 34-year-old made just 10 appearances (2 starts) for Olympiacos since his transfer and scored three goals. 

Fabrizio Romano (5 stars) reports that Marcelo will now go back to Spain with his family and listen to offers from other clubs.

The Brazilian is currently injured and there were rumours that Real Madrid would let him train at their facilities in the meantime. However, the credible Mario Cortegana has disproved it.
