As a reminder, the 33-year-old's current contract expires at the end of the season and his future remains up in the air. Real Madrid want to extend his deal but the veteran has doubts due to the amount of playing time he's been getting.

Perhaps ironically, Ceballos's deal expires this summer too.

Nacho's contract expires at the end of the season and Real Madrid want him to continue at Santiago Bernabeu. The defender struggled to get minutes in the first half of the season but has been more involved lately, which gives one hope that the versatile defender will agree to a new deal.

I dont know whether it has to do with how his name sounds (less sexy), but I can't believe how underrated and unappreciated Nacho has been at Real Madrid. Yet he manages to keep cool heads. Over the years, he has hardly put a foot wrong when he has been on the pitch. This is so strange!! This same spite has followed him at the National Team level. Give him a 3 year contract already with all the perks he deserves

I agree. I still don’t know why he was snubbed for the national team, especially the WC. Same case goes for Ramos. Sheer stupidity runs in managing our players and it’s until later that we see the results. So letting Nacho go would be beyond reason.

It would be criminal to let Nacho go. He’s no Paulo Maldini but his versatility makes him one of the most solid defenders in the world. Considering he’s right footed and plays so well on the left just makes his usefulness even more important. I would not let him go by any means. Also, we should give Ceballos a chance. He has shown great form in the last months. It’s just that we need to get the right formula for him to play at his best. Regardless, both need to stay. Nacho’s service for Madrid is rarely seen.
