Sergio Ramos is such a character.
During Sevilla's last game against Real Sociedad, Ramos made a nasty tackle on Sociedad Brais Mendez late in the match.
The referee immediately showed Ramos a second yellow which led to his sending off. But the legend stayed on the pitch begging and appealing to the referee to check VAR and change his decision.
After a VAR check, the referee decided to cancel the second yellow and show Ramos a straight red card instead.
Here's a rundown of the bizarre incident:
Ramos hacks down Mendez
Ref shows Ramos second yellow and red card
Ramos and his teammates begs and appeals for a VAR check
Ref agrees and checks VAR after being told to do so
He returns to show Ramos a straight red card instead of just a yellow - Ramos will now miss 3 games, not 1
The former Real Madrid skipper just can't believe it
This was Ramos' 21st red card in his La Liga career. No player in the Spanish top-flight league has seen more red cards than Ramos.
