A unique football award, the Super Ballon d'Or that was given to the great Alfredo Di Stefano in 1989, used to be on display at the Real Madrid Museum at Santiago Bernabeu.
But it's no longer there, so the question is where it is now. Here's the answer.
In 2021, Di Stefano's children auctioned off his memorabilia. The trophy was sold to an anonymous buyer for £187,500 and its location is unknown. The accolade's initial price was £50,000.
Besides the Super Ballon d'Or, 800 pieces went under the hammer, including Di Stefano's gold medals for all five of Real Madrid's European Cup victories, the Ballon d'Or awards, five miniature European Cup trophies and his white number nine shirt.
The sale took place at Julien's Auctions in London. Five years before, it held a Pele memorabilia sale.
