'It's different from Madrid. I can't win games alone. I need help': Karim Benzema on his Saudi struggles

Karim Benzema bid farewell to Real Madrid after 14-year at Santiago Bernabeu, leaving the club as a free agent in the summer of 2023.

Soon after, the Frenchman signed for Al Ittihad. However, things didn't go as smoothly as one might have expected for the iconic player in the Middle East: Karim has found himself engaged in numerous controversies and there were even rumours about his potential return to Europe.

Despite managing to net 12 goals in 26 games for the Saudi side, his last goal came in December 2023, marking a 113-day goal drought for the striker.

When asked by a Saudi reporter about his dip in form, Benzema candidly replied:

"Things are just not like at Real Madrid. It's different. It's not the same game, not the same players. I can't win games alone. I need someone to help me on the pitch."

Indeed, it's not the same star-studded team he used to perform with for over a decade at Bernabeu. The Frenchman will have to adjust to this new reality, considering he made the choice for this move himself.
