"Luka Modric is a top-level player, one of the best in the world," Carlo Ancelotti said in his press conference for the game against Villarreal.
"Relationship with Modrić this season? I have never had problems with Luka Modrić. He's a spectacular guy. And we will never have problems, we respect each other a lot," the Madrid coach added.
Modric is tipped to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season after seeing himself become a benchwarmer at the club for the first time.
However, reports suggest that the 38-year-old is willing to lower his salary to stay at the club of his life.
"I'm always optimistic [Modric and Kroos will stay] but now we are thinking about the final, the rest is secondary," Ancelotti said.
Real Madrid are barely two weeks away from winning their 15th Champions League title. There is no room for error.
