Brazil coach Dorival Junior believes Vinicius is the Ballon d'Or winner in waiting for his performances this season.
“This campaign he [Vincius] carried out during this period is the one that will shorten that path to the Ballon d'Or," Dorival said.
"Of all the players involved in the two competitions [Euros and Copa America], no one had a year with greater balance than Vini Jr. I think this election is already happening, if it hasn't already happened.
“I think that this can hardly be altered by a single competition, even if it is the competition that ends the year and that has great importance in the context.
"For everything Vinicius has already accomplished throughout this period, it would be a big surprise if that (winning the Ballon d'Or) doesn't happen," the Brazil coach.
Vinicius is currently the favourite to win his first Ballon d'Or this year. If the winger wins the Champions League and Copa America he would ultimately seal the trophy regardless of what happens next.
