Christian Eriksen’s first interview: ‘I won’t give up. I want to understand what happened’

Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch after suffering a cardiac arrest during last Saturday's Euro 2020 clash between Denmark and Finland.

The Inter Milan midfielder had to be resuscitated with the doctors saving his life thanks to their swift and timely actions.

In a message delivered through his agent to Gazzetta dello Sport, Eriksen said: "Thank you, I won't give up. I feel better now.

"But I want to understand what's happened. I want to say thank you all for what you did for me."

Speaking to the media on Sunday, Denmark team doctor Morten Boesen reflected on Eriksen's condition: "The exams that have been done so far look fine.

"We don't have an explanation why it happened. I can't answer that question. I didn't see it live, I saw it on screen when it happened. You saw the same as me. No explanation so far."
