Written by Sofie Engberg Munch for TV 2 Denmark:
The crown jewel of Danish football, the creative midfielder is - despite his lack of playing time at Manchester United this season - still the star of the show when he pulls on the red and white shirt. Christian Eriksen might not shine as brightly as he once did, but just like a puppet master he will pull the strings in midfield for Denmark this summer. It will be emotional, of course, as he plays at the Euros for the first time since that horrible day at Parken in 2021, when he collapsed on the pitch against Finland having suffered a cardiac arrest. He returned, though, first with Brentford and now United. His idol growing up was, unsurprisingly, Michael Laudrup, but with a father who loved Roberto Baggio, Eriksen’s first jersey was with the Italian one.
