Ljungberg and Bould can reportedly be appointed caretaker managers

Unai Emery is the bookies’ favourite to lose his job and the Mirror understands he can be replaced by former Gunners Freddie Ljungberg and Steve Bould.

Freddie is currently second-in-command to Emery as assistant manager, while Steve Bould is heading up the U23s. They will be considered as a temporary fix until the summer - when Arsenal will be to attract one of their preferred targets.

Mikel Arteta, Massimiliano Allegri, Julian Nagelsmann and Patrick Vieira are being cited as such. The Gunners’ executive committee will reassess their stance on Emery after facing West Ham on December 9, it appears.

The Spaniard received a vote of confidence before the international break and it seems to have been a genuine one. Worryingly, David Ornstein at the Athletic, claims Emery’s contract is a three-year one, with no option to break.

‘I've been told [by] multiple sources that it's a three-year contract without a break clause. I could be wrong, it's just what I've been told when asking that specific question. Either way, the outcome of this season is likely to be pivotal.’
