Our backup shot-stopper Emi Martinez might leave the club in the summer, after he conceded as much in his interview with TNT Sports.
“The most difficult thing was to leave home as a child, I left the club I loved, from Independiente, away from my friends.
"The fear I had was to fail abroad, but in these 10 years I affirmed myself at Arsenal, I joined the Argentina national team.
“I still have a contract for two more seasons, but I am open to everything because I want to play, here or in another club.”
Emi has made only 25 senior appearances since joining and a meagre 6 in the league. As much as we like him, at this point it doesn't look like he has much of a chance at Arsenal beyond being a cup goalkeeper.
It's a shame we have never seen Martinez get a sustained run in the side, even though the goalkeeper position has been a turbulent one in recent seasons. With Bernd Leno a firm number 1 choice though we just don't see Emi playing a lot in the near future.
