Arsenal to face Liverpool twice in 4 days — Arteta believes Gunners can win both games

Arsenal are set to face Liverpool at Anfield on Thursday, October 1. The League Cup fourth round game is scheduled for a 7.45pm kick-off (UK time).

This will be the second time the Gunners face Jurgen Klopp's side in four days as the Premier League matchday 3 clash between the same sides will take place on Monday, September 28.

And Mikel Arteta expects the two games will be different from each other as lessons learned in the first match will be applied in the second.

"It is normally difficult enough to play the same team in four days and for the players as well to adapt," said the boss at the pre-match presser as cited by the club's official website.

"Obviously, the first game has a big impact on the second one and it is really tough to beat the same opponent twice in that short period. When you talk about Liverpool that challenge is much bigger but I just want to focus on Monday.

"Let's try to get the best possible preparation against them, go there, and most importantly have the belief that we can go there and win. We all have to believe that we are capable of doing that."

You can expect an entertaining game:

Arsenal defeated Leicester City (2-0) in the third round while Liverpool beat League One side Lincoln City (7-2).

Arteta has a perfect head-to-head record against Klopp, beating him on two occasions out of two (a victory in the Prem in July and a Community Shield triumph in August). The Prem win was the first time Arsenal managed to get three points in a game against Liverpool in five years.

And the game will also be special to the Spaniard as he spent six years at Everton as a player before moving to Arsenal in 2011.
