Gabriel dubs Granit Xhaka 'My captain' in response to his latest Instagram post

On Wednesday, Switzerland hosted Croatia in the international friendly and Granit Xhaka was the captain of his national team.

Even though the Gunner provided an assist for the opener, his side eventually lost the game 2-1.

After the game, the 28-year-old shared an Instagram post captioned as follows: “Always an honour to represent my country, even if it’s a disappointment not to win. Next stop, Spain… we’ll do our all to return with three points!”

Granit's message received lots of supportive comments from fans and Gabriel Maghalaes also left a message under that post, which read as follows: “My captain 🔥”

Xhaka was stripped of the armband and frozen out of the squad following the Palace controversy in October last year when he swore at the jeering home crowd while being substituted.

The player admitted that he would have left the club in January if it hadn't been for Mikel Arteta's arrival, who eventually convinced him to stay.

The midfielder is now a first-team regular and an undisputed leader of the team.
