“It’s not guaranteed," David Ornstein said on the Ask Ornstein podcast when asked whether Arsenal plan to sign an attacking midfielder in January.
"Arsenal don’t just want to go for any old player & make mistakes of the past, they want to get the right player, even if that means waiting until the summer, but definitely don’t rule it out!
“With Mesut Ozil out of the picture, Arsenal are going to try and sign somebody if they can but it needs to be somebody at the top level, it needs to be somebody better than Smith Rowe right now & that’s not easy to find, especially from Champions League clubs.
“There will be ups and downs and that’s why Arsenal, at this moment, see him ideally as being back-up, support, competition for a world-class no. 10, filling in when necessary, learning off of them & eventually succeeding them.”
According to the recent media reports, Arsenal are exploring options in the market to strengthen the attacking midfield.
Isco, Emi Buendia and some other players are believed to be considered by the board.
