Barcelona may be stripped of 4 Champions League trophies including 2006 final - explained

Barcelona are facing charges of bribing referees over a span of numerous years in the last two decades and there is a possibility of relegation looming large.

If found guilty, the Catalan side could be stripped off the Champions League titles they won during that time.

Pep Guardiola has only ever won the continental competition with Barca and has failed to repeat the triumph with neither Bayern nor Man City.

If the court proceedings go against Barca, Guardiola could lose those trophies from his list of honours.

"The possibility of a relegation [from European competitions] may occur. UEFA can judge facts that do not have international significance. If there is evidence of some irregularities, they can have the power to act," Catalan Sports Court president, Joan Maria Xiol, has told the media.

"Also, on the list of sanctions is the possibility of losing trophies and being out of European competitions definitively," he added.

Barca have been accused of bribing referees from 2003-2018, meaning they could lose the four Champions League trophies they won during that time.

That includes the 2006 win over Arsenal, where Guardiola famously defeated Wenger, Henry and co.
