New twist in Declan Rice deal revealed - it has to do with a controversial clause

The possibility of Declan Rice could stay at West Ham has emerged as problems have hit the talks with Arsenal according to Claret & Hugh.

A £105million total fee was agreed with the Gunners to sell the 24-year-old star last week after Manchester City dropped out of the running.

It was gathered that hopes that the deal would be completed Monday were “dead”.

Fresh reports claim that the Irons want a sell-on clause to give them a cut of any future profits, and the add-ons to be achieved through simpler means than Premier League or Champions League trophy wins.

Journalist Paul Brown told Give Me Sport:

“West Ham have kind of dug their heels in a little bit in negotiations, and they still haven’t agreed the payment structure and all the add-ons. I think there are several things that still need to be negotiated.

“Both parties seem pretty confident that they won’t turn into a sort of stumbling block that could affect this transfer going through. But I do think that West Ham have a few demands that Arsenal are yet to meet.

“There’s even talk that they want a sell-on fee included in the deal, which I don’t think was part of the original negotiation at all.”
