Arsenal 'identify' Jurrien Timber solution who could cost more than the Dutchman

Arsenal are considering a move for Torino centre-back Perr Schuurs as they look to cover Jurrien Timber’s injury, according to reports.

Mikel Arteta admitted it was a “huge blow” to lose Timber to injury in their opening-day Premier League victory over Nottingham Forest.

The Netherlands international tore his ACL and will be missing for a number of months with Arsenal now ready to go back into the transfer market to cover his injury.

And Italian publication La Stampa claims Schuurs is on their list of targets.

The report adds that Arsenal are ‘thinking of Schuurs’ with Arteta viewing the Dutchman as a potential ‘solution’ to the Timber problem.

However, the Dutchman is valued at around €40m which is even more than what Arsenal paid Ajax for Timber.

Schuurs began his career in Fortuna Sittard’s academy before moving to Ajax in 2018.

He then went on to make 95 senior appearances for the Eredivisie giants and joined Torino last summer
