'Does a striker cry?': Thierry Henry makes ultimate verdict on Ramsdale vs Raya

Speaking on CBS Sports, Thierry Henry said: "It's not a matter of who is right or wrong — Mikel Arteta is the coach. He sees David Raya as the guy who can make him win the league.

"When Bernd Leno left Arsenal, Arteta saw Aaron Ramsdale as the guy who can make him go to the top four. I think if he goes to get Raya, he thinks that Raya is better. There's no rotation here. People have to stop.

"When you play at a big club, competition will happen. When you play as a striker and the club one of the best striker in the world to compete with you, do you cry because there's another guy that can take my position?

"I can tell you it's not easy to go on the pitch knowing that if you miss, someone else will come. I don't think it's rotation. Arteta got the goalkeeper who he thinks can win him the Premier League."

Although Ramsdale was the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper last season, Arteta decided he wanted competition for the no.1 role this year.

Raya was brought in on loan from Brentford with the Spaniard giving both shot-stoppers a chance to stake their claims and convince the manager.
