Mikel Arteta breaks silence on Martin Odegaard's omission vs Sheffield United

Speaking to the reporters at the weekend, Mikel Arteta said: We went through all the minutes that everybody that has played in the last few weeks.

"Martin Odegaard had played an enormous amount of minutes. He has been carrying a little thing that wasn't very comfortable in the games.

"We have players with enormous quality and we have to trust them. We believe the Sheffield United game was the right day to do so."

Odegaard was disappointing during Arsenal's trip to Sevilla in the Champions League, raising concerns over his overall form in the last few weeks.

Arteta's decision to rest the Norwegian for the Sheffield clash proved to be the right one with many more important games in store for the Gunners.
