FT: West Ham 3-1 Arsenal: LIVE updates, stats, reactions, ratings & more

🏁 West Ham 3-1 Arsenal: here's how the game unfolded.

Arsenal started strongly but were unable to penetrate West Ham's defence. Ben White gave the hosts the lead from a corner kick and after that, it was all West Ham.

Kudus and Bowen scored two quick goals before Odegaard grabbed a consolation in the closing stages. An underwhelming display by the lads.

oDEGAARD SCORES

⌚80' - Doesn't seem like we are even going to get a consolation goal from this one. Arteta got everything wrong tonight.

Arsenal sub: Odegaard on, Nketiah off.

⌚70' - Seems like a mountain too high for us. Declan Rice getting booed by West Ham fans. Not just our night.

πŸ’¬Charles Watts: "Game over now. Arsenal have come out sleeping in the second half."

Arsenal subs: Saka on, Nelson off. Martinelli on, Trossard off.

⚽ 3-0... Bowen from the edge of the box. Took a deflection off Kiwior and Ramsdale couldn't keep it out.

πŸ’¬Jordan Campbell: "Stunning goal by Kudus to make it 2-0 West Ham. Brilliant diagonal over the top of Zinchenko and he checks back perfectly on his first touch to work the space to curl into the far corner. You'd imagine Arteta will turn to the big guns on his bench soon..."

πŸ’¬Eduardo Hagn: "Zinchenko and Gabriel, that is disgraceful defending. Wake UP!"

⚽ 2-0 Mohammed Kudus. A long ball over the head of Zinchenko finds Kudus. His touch is absolutely superb and he drills his finish into the far corner.

⌚45' - Bowen almost made it 2. Good save from Ramsdale to deny the Englishman a goal inside 30 seconds of the restart.

We're back...

πŸ—£οΈSash: "We played decent. Very very unlucky and undeserved to be behind!"

Shots: 0-8

Possession: 32% - 68%

πŸ‘‰1-0 down at the break.

A below-par 45 minutes against a team who are doing all they can to frustrate us. West Ham are pressing us from the back, forcing us into mistakes.

We succumbed with Ben White heading into his net. Ramsdale was obstructed in the buildup. A flurry of opportunities followed but we failed to make any count.

πŸ“Š Half-time ratings

Excellent: Havertz, Trossard

Decent: Remaining players

⌚40' - Seems we will go into the break with the deficit. Arteta has to make changes...

Kiwior mean business

πŸ‘ŒLe Grove: "This is a bit of a sharp reminder that clubs specifically target Aaron Ramsdale because they think he'll get flustered. Goal wasn't his fault, he had his shirt pulled, but he didn't do enough to extract himself from the wrestling like other keepers would."

⌚30' - We have had a couple of goalscoring chances falling to Nelson and Havertz. Both fired blanks. Meanwhile, West Ham continue to press us from the front.

⌚22' - We've responded well to the early setback. However, no breakthrough yet. Nketiah very silent so far.

πŸ’¬Charles Watts: "White defending a corner at the near post, glances it in past Ramsdale, who ends up in heap on the floor with Gabriel.

"West Ham had barely got near the Arsenal goal up to that point. Really soft goal to give away."

⚽West Ham lead. Ben White own goal...

⌚12' - Havertz goes close with a glancing header from Nelson's free-kick. Fabianski does well to tip it over.

🀣Arsenal fans chanting: β€œDeclan Rice, he left cause you’re sh*t!”

⌚5' - We've started very well with Nketiah, Havertz, Nelson and Trossard threatening. However, we have also looked exposed during counterattacks.

We're underway...

πŸ—£οΈMikel Arteta on Ramsdale: β€œEvery week, I haven't seen anything different. More determination, more hunger to play, he's got another opportunity like many others to do what he's been doing, nothing different”.

About 15 minutes to kickoff...

🚨 Mikel Arteta on Smith Rowe’s absence: β€œWe have an issue with him. He felt something in his knee & started to feel some pain after the game - we are assessing him, but [it’s] a big worry with him."

πŸ’”Emile Smith Rowe misses out on tonight's squad due to a knee issue.Β

πŸ—£οΈGeorge Bird: "No academy players in the squad tonight despite a lot being involved in training yesterday. Hopefully some will get called up in the next round if Arsenal progress."Β

πŸ—£οΈEduardo Hagn: "Heavily rotated side but good enough to pull through. Nice to Ramsdale and Kiwior. Looks like Tomiyasu will start vs Newcastle."Β

πŸ₯°Ben White is the only Arsenal player to start in every single match this season.Β

🀐Mavropanos starts for West Ham. It’s the first time he has faced Arsenal since leaving.
