Rice set for return & 2 more under-radar stories at Arsenal today

Wright baffled by one Arteta decision

Ian Wright doesn't understand why Mikel Arteta dropped Gabriel Martinelli for the Crystal Palace clash on Saturday with the Brazilian coming off the bench in the second half to score a late brace.

He said: "When you get someone like Martinelli in that much space, the line was so high, I was very surprised he didn't start. I'm quite pleased he came on and made the impact he did. He can finish. You've got to take advantage when teams are playing poorly like Palace were. You can really punish these teams."

Trossard stats

According to the BBC, Leandro Trossard has now been involved in 11 goals from 14 games in all competitions at the Emirates this season, making him one of Arsenal’s most productive players.

Mikel Arteta appears to be pleased with Trossard’s contributions, and considering his recent form, we could see more of him in the second half of the season.

Rice set for return

Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice is expected to be available for the visit to Nottingham Forest next week following his recent injury scare.

The England international was substituted in the 73rd minute of the Gunners’ 5-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday complaining of an issue towards his hamstring.
