'A very feasible task for Bayern': Didi Hamann reveals why Arsenal might struggle in UCL quarter-finals

Former Germany midfielder Dietmar Hamann believes that Bayern Munich are the favourites to win the Champions League quarter-final against Arsenal.

Speaking about the clash to Sport Bild, he said: “I wouldn’t be blinded by Arsenal’s lead in the league table in England: of course they’re a good team.

“But they are completely inexperienced at this level in the Champions League. Apart from [Kai] Havertz, they don’t have a player who has done anything in the Champions League class.

“Against Porto you could see what problems Arsenal suddenly had. That’s why it’s a very feasible task for FC Bayern. It won’t be easy, but greater experience could ultimately be the deciding factor for the record German champions.”

This is a very strange deduction by Hamann and one that is unlikely to affect the Gunners in reality. Even though Mikel Arteta’s squad will play in the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time  under him, they have plenty of character and experience to go all the way.

Even apart from Havertz, Jorginho is a Champions League winner – while the likes of Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard have all proven that they can thrive against the best this season.

Arsenal will look to shut up their doubters by enacting the revenge over Bayern and moving one step closer to winning their first-ever Champions League trophy.
