'Didn’t hit the levels': Arsenal player gets mixed reactions from the national media

Kieran Tierney endured a tough night for Scotland. His team lost 1-0 to Northern Ireland following a 4-0 defeat to Netherlands. Scotland dealt an early blow, with Andrew Robertson going off with injury against Northern Ireland, so Tierney had to change his role.

Kieran's performance got mixed reactions from the national media. The Scottish Sun wrote: "Started as left of back three then switched to left-back in shape change. Sent in a couple of good crosses but didn’t hit the levels we usually see in a Scotland shirt." They gave Tierney a 5/10.

The Scotsman gave more praise for Tierney: "Moved over to left-back after Andy Robertson’s injury and was one of Scotland’s brighter players, composed on the ball, quick to get forward and put in some decent crosses."

Talking about Arsenal, it is actually tough to imagine Tierney playing for the Gunners again. Arsenal is a whole new team compared to when Tierney joined. And the left-back position has changed a lot since then.

Jakub Kiwior has been doing okay as a left-back. Tierney also doesn't fit the role of an inverted full-back like Oleksandr Zinchenko or Jurrien Timber would. Ben White is in great form right now and don't forget about versatile Takehiro Tomiyasu who recently signed a new long-term contract.
