Just 1 player was up to his best vs Newcastle – 4 were dismal: ratings

Kepa Arrizabalaga - 5

Another mistake from the Spanish keeper who should have saved Hayden's game-winner. Before that, he had little to do apart from clearing one cross in the first half.

Antonio Rudiger - 5

The German surprisingly became the weak link of the Blues' defence, mainly due to his long-range passing that left much to be desired. Also, he should've prevented Hayden's goal by marking him properly.

Willian - 5

The Brazilian struggled to make a real impact, although he tried a couple of shots that led to nothing. He could not find a place for himself on the left nor on the right.

Mason Mount - 4.5

Worryingly, this version of Mount is nothing like the youngster who got off to a flying start in his first season in Chelsea's first team. Too many misplaced passes, too few threatening shots: Mason needs to do some homework.

Reece James - 7.5

Hands-down Man of the Match among the Blues. The right-back was the most creative player on the pitch, especially in the first half when he made a key pass for N'Golo Kante's chance. His injury is, no doubt, a big blow for Lampard.

The rest: Christensen - 6.5, Azpilicueta - 6, Kante - 6.5, Jorginho - 5.5, Hudson-Odoi - 5.5, Abraham - 5.5, Barkley - 6, Emerson - n/a, Batshuayi - n/a
