'It’s a dream for me to work with Frank Lampard': Mendy says first words as Chelsea player

Chelsea have officially announced the signing of Edouard Mendy. The goalkeeper has shared feelings over the move.

"I am so excited to be joining Chelsea," the 28-year-old told the Blues' official website. "It’s a dream for me to be a part of this exciting squad and to work with Frank Lampard and all of his coaching staff. I look forward to meeting my team-mates and can’t wait to get started."

Chelsea have completed the transfer of Mendy from Rennes for a reported fee of £22m. The shot-stopper has penned down a five-year contract with the club.

Mendy made 33 appearances across all competitions last term, conceding 31 goals, keeping 13 clean sheets and helping Rennes qualify for the Champions League after finishing third in Ligue 1.
