Rudiger, Tomori and 4 more players who can still prove their worth to Frank Lampard

Fikayo Tomori: There were rumours of the centre-back leaving on loan but he has stayed and the 22-year-old could have a big part to play this season.

He's young, hungry and has shown the fans glimpses of how good he can be. Tomori will definitely get some minutes this season and it all depends on him on how he uses them - will he impress Lampard enough to warrant a starting position over Kurt Zouma? Time will tell us.

Antonio Rudiger: It's hard to fathom the 27-year-old clawing his way back to the top of the centre-back list at Stamford Bridge, but never say never.

Rudiger is not a bad defender; he just seems low on confidence. The centre-back has a lot of experience in his belt and his chance to shine could come in the domestic cup games - he will have to make the most of the limited chances he gets.

Andreas Christensen: The red card against Liverpool did not help much to better Christensen's reputation at Chelsea. Once compared to John Terry, the defender is now the 4th choice centre-back at the club.

However, at the age of 24, all hope is not lost yet. We could see the player starting over Silva or Zouma when the schedule is jam-packed, but it's a now-or-never season for the defender who really needs to find his form soon.

Emerson Palmieri: Ben Chilwell will start every important game and rightly so, but that does not mean that Emerson will not get any game time. The left-back is definitely a better choice than Marcos Alonso, who has declined faster than Pulisic runs on the wings.

Emerson can also operate as a left winger at times, although that probably won't be necessary. He can be a good deputy defender for the Blues and who knows, maybe he can even stay at Stamford Bridge beyond this season!

Jorginho: The jury is still out on whether or not the midfielder should start games for the club. He was flirting with Juventus in the summer and could have been on his way out if not for Maurizio Sarri's sacking.

However, Jorginho has had a couple of strong performances already this season and he does provide Lampard with a good midfield option against teams that don't press a lot. Whether or not he consistently starts, however, is a different story.

Callum Hudson-Odoi: To be honest, Hudson-Odoi does not necessarily need to prove himself as we all know how good he is. However, to lock down a starting spot in a stacked Chelsea attack will be a tough ask.

He started the last game against Crystal Palace and at the age of 19, the sky is the limit for the attacking midfielder. The question here is simple - can he impress Lampard enough to start every week? Time will tell us!
