'Essential': France coach Deschamps becomes latest football personality to praise Kante

Speaking ahead of France's game against Switzerland, Deschamps became the latest individual to talk about N'Golo Kante's many qualities.

"He is always the first to be picked in training routines. He is an engine for the squad.

"It’s about what he does on the pitch. You can be as humble as you like, but if you don’t have the quality on the pitch, you don’t get that reputation.

"He’s not the most expressive guy, vocally expressive. What he does on the pitch is essential for the French team and all teams where he has played and plays now."

The odds are stacked against the French having gone 1-0 down against the Swiss in the first half but their quality, including Kante, should be more than enough to see them through to the next round.
