Lewis Bate close to permanent Leeds move after rejecting Chelsea deal (reliability: 5 stars)

According to Goal's Nizaar Kinsella, Chelsea Academy graduate Lewis Bate is set to complete a permanent move to Leeds United.

The 18-year-old midfielder has rejected a contract offer from the Blues and as his current deal expires in 12 months, Chelsea have opted to sell him.

The England U19 international was highly rated by Frank Lampard's coaching staff and was an unused sub for Chelsea's first team on two occasions.

Bate also attracted interest from Liverpool, West Ham, and Southampton. However, he has chosen to join Leeds as he is looking for more first-team minutes at the Premier League level.

Earlier, Marc Guehi was sold to Crystal Palace in a similar situation, while Tino Livramento and Myles Peart-Harris could soon follow that route.

At the same time, Armando Broja has signed a five-year contract extension with Chelsea and might get a chance with Thomas Tuchel's side next season.
