'As long as they don't pull a Solanke': Blues fan gives detailed explanation on why youngsters are right to leave Chelsea

Chelsea are seeing somewhat of an exodus at the U18 level from the academy, as Bate and Peart-Harris have already left and Livramento seems to be on the way out as well.

This hasn't sat well with a few Blues but u/aaulia on Reddit has explained why it makes sense for the young lads to seek new clubs.

He wrote: "Being able to break through requires luck and timing as much as skill and effort. For Mount, James, Tomori and Tammy that luck and timing was Lampard and the transfer ban.

"It's completely fair for the next generation of youngsters to decide to move elsewhere in order to advance their footballing career and not going on loan and pursue breaking through to the Chelsea first team.

"Heck, moving to another team might even give them a better chance to develop than being loaned, since their new team would be more invested in their development. It's fine as long as they don't pull a Solanke and be more like Lamptey."

Moving to clubs like Brentford and Leeds who have a track record of developing youngsters is a good choice, even if it does hurt to see them not try and make it with the Blues.
