'I'm trying to push and give my 100 per cent': Zappacosta wants to impress Tuchel in B'mouth friendly

Davide Zappacosta is back at Chelsea after finishing his loan spell with Genoa, and the wing-back wants to fight for a place in the first team.

"It has been a while that I've been in Italy so it's really good to be back here and work with some old friends and the coach as well, because he's a really good coach and we have been just trying to do what he's asking us," Zappacosta told the club's official website.

"This pre-season, it's quite hard, but it's good pushing now just to be fit for the start of the league.

"We know we are a lot of players that have been on loan, so it's not easy to play now all together, but we are trying to do our best to play in the best way possible.

‘I'm just trying to push and give my 100 per cent and we will see."

Zappacosta is heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, but the 29-year-old is likely to get a chance to impress Tuchel in the pre-season.

He had a good season on loan with Genoa, scoring 2 goals and providing 4 assists in 25 games, and the manager's preferred 3-4-3 shape suits the Italian wing-back.

Chelsea are set to face Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium on Tuesday, 27 July at 7:45pm (UK time).
