Inter Milan reject Chelsea's bid plus Alonso for Romelu Lukaku (reliability: 4 stars)

Inter Milan are said to have rejected another bid from Chelsea for Romelu Lukaku, according to reliable Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

The bid being rejected is worth €100M with the extra incentive of Marcos Alonso as a sweetener.

Sky Sports recently reported that Inter told Chelsea they will not accept a bid below €100m for the big Belgian.

The Blues have faced massive financial roadblocks in their hunt for a striker.

Recently, Bayern Munich ruled out selling Robert Lewandowski this summer while Dortmund have acrimoniously inflated their asking price for Erling Haaland.

Chelsea 'haven't given up' on signing Romelu Lukaku despite seeing their two bids rejected this summer, according to The Athletic's Simon Johnson.

The Blues are looking to sign a new No.9 until the end of the month with Lukaku, Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski as their top three targets.

While it would be all but impossible to land either the Borussia Dortmund hitman or the Bayern Munich striker this summer, the Blues are still hoping to bring their former forward back to Stamford Bridge.

The source of Chelsea's hopes is Inter Milan's financial struggles, as per the tier-1 UK source.

The Nerazzurri badly need to reduce their wage bill ahead of the start of the 2021/22 season and the Blues are willing to capitalise on that.

Lukaku, on the other hand, claimed that he's 'staying at Inter' beyond the summer in early June.
