Chelsea devise plan to keep top-rated youngster and avoid Livramento mistake (reliability: 5 stars)

Chelsea are trying to keep the U19s midfielder Harvey Vale at the club, The Athletic report.

The club want to offer him a new deal and have come up with a strategy of persuading him to accept it.

The strategy involves sending him a clear message by including him in the matchday squads for the Southampton and Malmo games.

Earlier this year, highly-rated prospects Tino LivramentoLewis Bate and Dynel Simeu all rejected Chelsea's offers for new deals and had to be sold.

The Blues don't want the same thing to happen with Vale and have already begun talks over a contract extension with the 18-year-old.

Harvey's current deal runs out next year and he is understood to be willing to commit his future to Chelsea.

Thomas Tuchel has called up the youngster to join first-team training several times.

Vale's natural position is that of an advanced playmaker. He is also capable of playing as a left winger and left wing-back.
